HOW DOES CANDELA HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT WORK?
The Candela operator guides the light from the flash-lamp to the treatment area. The unique Ellipse 12PL system carefully filters this light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach the skin.
Hair contains pigment (melanin) that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle, which is then destroyed and rendered unable to produce new hair.
To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair, a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment. The operator then moves the handheld applicator over the entire treatment area exactly one applicator width after each flash of light.
Can all hairs be treated?
As the treatment relies on absorption of light in the hair pigment (melanin), the most efficient treatment is seen with dark hair. The lighter the skin, the more pronounced the distinction between hair and skin color, making treatment easier. However, Ellipse has pre-programmed settings for different hair and skin colours so adjust the energy output to your needs.
How long does an Ellipse treatment take?
The glass prism within the tile Ellipse applicator that guides the light to the skin is 10mm by 48mm, so several vessels can be targeted in one flash of light. Treatment of the upper lip takes approximately 5 minutes, whereas a back or both legs takes 60-120 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person. No anesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin.
Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?
The light used is completely safe. visible light. Potentially harmful wavelengths are removed by the unique Ellipse Dual Mode Filtering system.
How many Ellipse treatments do I need?
Hair growth is cyclical, as hair follicles go through resting and growing phases. Only follicles in the growth phase contain hair is destroyed by the heat. Resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can be effectively destroyed by the Ellipse treatment. That’s why it is necessary to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been through the growth phase.
The length and timing of the growth cycles are affected by numerous factors such as body site, hair, density, thickness, ethnic origin, hormonal status, and age. Clinical studies have confirmed that at least 3-6 treatments are needed, and the intervals between treatments are typically 1-3 months.

SUN
DAMAGED
SKIN
TREATMENT
How does CANDELA treatment work?
The flash-lamp in the unique Candela system produces light that is carefully filtered in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin. SUN
The light that is allowed through has been chosen because it is the sort that two natural body substances respond to. Age spots contain a substance called melanin, and blood vessels contain a substance called haemoglobin. When cells containing a lot of melanin or haemoglobin are targeted with the flash lamp, they heat up and are destroyed within a few thousandths of one second. SUN
Which Sun-Damaged Skin can be treated?
As skin rejuvenation is based on light absorption in melanin and hemoglobin treatments are most efficient in patients with light skin who are not sun-tanned at the time of treatment. The lighter the skin, the more pronounced the contrast between the age spots/blood vessels and the skin, making treatment easier. However, Ellipse has pre-programmed settings for different skin colours that deliver the correct energy output for your complexion.
How long does a Sun-Damaged Skin treatment take?
The glass prism within tile Ellipse applicator that guides the light to the skin is 10mm by 48mm, so several vessels can be targeted in one flash of light. A full-face treatment takes about 20 minutes. You should expect a total of 1-3 treatment before you obtain the desired results.
Does a Sun-Damaged Skin treatment hurt?
Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person. No anesthetics are required and many patients describe the treatment as a warming sensation similar to the feeling one has after a day on the beach. The lighter the skin colour the less sensation.
Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?
The light used is completely safe. visible light. Potentially harmful wavelengths are removed by the unique Ellipse Dual Mode Filtering system.
Since tanning takes place by accumulation of pigment (melanin) in the skin, it is also important to avoid tanning (sun, solarium or self-tanning cream) before and during the treatment period. Otherwise your tanned skin will absorb more light, which makes treatment less effective.
Generally, no post-treatment care is necessary. But people with very sensitive skin may benefit from applying an ice pack to the face immediately after treatment or applying an ointment prescribed by the doctor. It is also recommended to use sunscreen (min. SPF 30) for a few weeks following treatment.
How many Ellipse treatments do I need?
The number, of treatment, depends on the body site and the severity of the thread vein. Clinical studies have confirmed that 1-4 treatments usually are needed- and these are timed about one month apart.
What can I expect?
You may notice that the skin looks a little “dirty” for a few days, following treatment. After that, you will find that your skin looks smoother and fresher. You might choose to have 1 -2 annual maintenance treatments in order to keep your youthful appearance.

Acne
TREATMENT
How does Acne treatment work?
Acne is a skin disorder resulting from the action of hormones and other substances on the oil/sebaceous glands and hair follicles. These factors lead to blocked pores and outbreaks of pimples/spots. Acne effects both males and females, of all ages. It usually occurs on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. Although it is not a serious health issue, it is a source of significant emotional distress. Severe Acne, when left untreated can lead to permanent scarring.
What are some of the causes?
There are several myths surrounding the causes of Acne. Diet is often blamed for acne breakouts, this is untrue. Poor hygiene is also wrongly blamed. Puberty, pregnancy, polycystic ovarian syndrome, medication, and stress are all contributing factors. Prescription Drugs often mask the problem. Laser is the most effective treatment to target acne from the skin’s surface.
How will laser work for me?
Our Pulsed Light Laser helps slow down the production of sebum/oil to the skin. By regulating the oil, breakouts are slowed down and eventually cease.
For aggressive/chronic acne, we may recommend the use of the prescribed creams Differin/Adapalene for one month before commencing treatment with us.
Skin clears up very quickly, scarring is hugely improved and the overall appearance of the skin is remarkable.
How long does the treatment take?
The average treatment time takes 30 minutes.
Can I be treated?
Anyone over the age of 16 years, suffering from mild to moderate and even chronic acne can benefit from our laser. It is important to be pale for the treatment, as it is more effective.

Photo Rejuvenation is the only procedure that can treat vascular damage, skin texture and collagen structure all at once. With the use of Pulsed Light Technology, dramatic skin improvements are made. It is by far the safest and most effective Anti-Ageing Treatment available.
Can I be treated?
Yes, everyone from the early twenties onwards will benefit hugely from Photo-Rejuvenation. It is the greatest, non-invasive skin boost for the skin. Skin is left flawless afterward.
How long does a treatment take?
Facial Rejuvenation takes less than 30minutes. Areas of the body will take a little longer.
How many treatments will I need?
The average amount of treatments are 2-4. They are most effective once a month apart.
What can I expect?

TREATMENT
OF THREAD
VEINS
How does CANDELA treatment work?
A thread vein is a small blood vessel near the surface of the skin. The Candela operator guides the visible light from the flash-lamp to the blood vessels needing treatment. The unique candela system carefully filters the light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin.
Blood contains haemoglobin that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result, the veins will gradually, and safely, disappear after the treatment. To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair, a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment.
Which thread veins can be treated?
Thread veins on all parts of your body can be treated. The most common treatments are for superficial veins in the facial, chest or legs areas. As the treatment relies on absorption of light by the haemoglobin in the blood, the most effective results are seen with light skin.
The lighter the skin, the more pronounced the distinction between the vessel and the skin, making treatment easier. However, Ellipse has pre-programmed settings for different skin colours that deliver the correct energy output to your complexion.

The glass prism within the tile Candela applicator that guides the light to the skin is 10mm by 48mm, so several vessels can be targeted in one flash of light. The treatment depends on the area to be covered and the number of distinct vessels to be treated. A single session typically lasts 10-20 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person. No anesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin, followed by a warming sensation lasting several minutes. You may find it comforting to cool the skin after the treatment.

It is also recommended to use sunscreen (min. SPF 30) for a few weeks following treatment. After treatment of thread veins on the legs, compression (surgical) stockings should be worn for two weeks.
If larger veins on the leg have already been treated (surgery or scierotherapy), Ellipse treatment should be delayed for at least one month to allow the healing process to be complete first.

Acne Treatment
Acne is caused by the body’s increased production of the hormone androgen, which stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. The increased production of oil causes the pores to become blocked so that the oil cannot come up with the skin surface. The acne itself is an infection caused by the skin bacteria that feed on and break down this oil.
As the bacteria multiply, waste products and sebacic acid are created, and the sebaceous gland becomes inflamed – causing what is known as a blackhead, whitehead, or a pimple.
But now – with the clinically tested and safe Ellipse treatment – help is at hand.
Ellipse treatment works by reducing the blood supply to the sebaceous gland, which slows down the production of the body oil sebum.
